Kentucky Derby Week

My favorite week of the year. I watched the 99th in my dad’s country store on a 12” black and white. There will never be another Secretariat! I’ve been watching ever since, setting aside that two minutes every year, secretly hoping my horse wins but doesn’t break the two minute mark. Few have.
This year I’m going with Kingsbarns at 12:1. It’s an emotional pick based on those Orange and Purple silks.

Secretariat is the reason I got interested in horses. There will never be another like him.

The Belmont- "moving like a giant machine." He was amazing. Without peer. I once heard the horses at the farm would not eat till he did.

The Derby once again.

There will obviously never be another Secretariat, but I do think it is time for another dominant horse to make its mark. But until then, savor once again Big Red at the Belmont, "Moving like a tremendous machine!"
