Just Wondering Objectively

For the dumpers: What do you want? What do you hope to achieve with the constant negativity? Surely you don’t think anyone who has their hands on the levers is paying any heed to your comments. Do I wish we just kept winning it all every year? Sure? Do I think that’s a rational expectation? Nope. Some of you are just coots stirring the pot - pathetic, but I can at least fathom your motivation. The rest of you, what is your motivation? I am truly curious. Please note I am not saying you shouldn’t post and discuss whatever you want. Just…. why?

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Couldn't the same be said for the pumpers. They have no hope that anyone with their hands on the levers of power will be reading their comments, much less acting on them. What do they hope to achieve with the constant positivity ?

As for me, I love football, especially Clemson football, and I like to critically consider what we have done, what we are doing now, and what we might do in the future. I enjoy "talking" with people who like to think rationally about the empirical evidence impacting these questions. Some times the proposed answer are negative and sometimes they are positive, but as long as they can be reasonably supported, I enjoy them.

I appreciate both posts. The fun is in the winning as long as losing does not consume you.

Postings on social media does have an impact, whether the social media platform is Twitter, Instagram, TNet, or some others. However, postings on TNet are likely only of minimum impact unless there is an avalanche of posts on the same subject over many months.

On occasion, in interviews with Dabo, he has referenced how social media posts have an impact on players.

Reading this simply infuriates me when those TNet posts are negative towards a player. These negative posts should not be censored, but neither should they go without critique just because someone is worried about their TNet score.

When the posts are negative and generic (such as the __ unit is soft, or the __ unit is lazy), then this is also unhelpful and destructive.

These emotionally driven negative posts are nearly always from fans who are simultaneously passionate and ignorant about the nuances of football. Their negative critiques are seasoned with tired cliches. Absurd hyperbole is also typical from these passionate + ignorant fans.

However, it is the hubris and disregard for the student athletes which is the very worst. Such repeatedly puerile behavior is what one would expect from entitled brats; sadly there are (demographically speaking) grown-ups sprinkled within this group of entitled brats.

It is true … some (loser) people never grow up.

Trolls and Bots are out there, but not so many as to create an overall negative undertone.

True Clemson fans will express their concerns in a nuanced way. Any reader with half a brain will understand the gist of their message.

It is the idiot Clemson fan who expresses his grievances in a childish, emotional, and thoughtless manner. Their posts hurt Clemson.
