Great great pickup from Michigan baseball team. Played catcher and First base. Earned Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year watchlist, and earned All BIG10 honors.
But mainly, this guy is likely why Amick hit the road. Bakich expected his former guy, Obertop, from Michigan to come down to Clemson at end of season. So he told Billy that he would still be DH and not 1B as much. Like this year with Grice.
I think this has already been figured out by most of us though.

Amick knows draft wise he needs a position and 1b doesn't do much for you in the draft.

I was just complaining to my mother about not being able to mow due to rain. She is in Iowa and they have been watering grass because no rain. Some fields have to be replanted already up there.

Looks like I struck a nerve.
You know you don’t need to get so angry?
I’ll say that Amick leaving wasn’t mainly due to positioning, and probably more about the family things and staff issues, but I am certain that Bakich already had better defensive players in mind compared to Billy.
We had one of our best defensive years in a very long time, and it’s obviously something that Bakich prioritizes as much as hitting. We only finished top-50 in defense, but I distinctly remember commentators through the season stating that we were having the best defensive year in program history at one point.
Even though we had a great year defensively, you could argue it was the defense that costed us in the regional. That and pitching.
So, moving forward, I think Bakich denied Amick because of his subpar defense.
Also, Harlan’s at 3B. Like you talked about.
Lastly, Will Taylor was a projected 1st-rounder. To you and anyone else not believing Harlan will enroll, just stop.

Comparing any players "projected" status is worthless. Taylor also wanted to play football. You have no idea what someones $$$ figure is to forego college. Slot money drops significantly in the 2nd round, but it only takes one team to fall in love with a player and pay over slot! 2023 class, Head and Stafura are both 1st rounders and won't step foot on campus. The 2024 class has a few players getting attention from MLB scouts so it'll be interesting to watch for sure.

You just contradicted yourself man.
Will obviously knows his path is baseball, he must’ve always know that, he must have.
Playing football is just a bonus. But I don’t even have to mention that he thought long and hard about going in the top-2 rounds of the MLB draft.
And it was obvious. Their projected status obviously weighs heavily, and it indeed is a true measurable when comparing players.
Head is an insane player, and I just think that if Bakich can sell the culture and what he’s doing enough, he could get him.
One more thing, Will had a rough go of it defensively in first half of season. Coming to college baseball has let him work that out and continue to improve those flaws that would’ve failed him in the minors.
So that’s another thing when Head is considering.

His stats bakich’s last year at Michigan were great 15 long balls and 990 ops, but last year he only played half games and quite honestly had very lackluster stats. Does anybody know if he was hurt or what?
