JFK Assassignation. Clemson Football Fan on Grassy Knoll...

Jun 17, 2012, 10:13 AM

I was watching the 1973 Burt Lancaster JFK assassignation movie “Executive Action” late last night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NL7_Iar2a0o and noticed at the 20 minute mark the star was wearing an Orange and White Clemson cap with the White Tiger Paw on an orange football helmet logo on the front of the cap while laying out the Kennedy assassignation plans in a Mexican diner with an expert hired gunman.

This film was released in 1973 but probably made in 1972 only two years after Coach Ingram rolled out the Tiger Paw that has been the Clemson symbol ever since.

4 time Academy Award nominee and winner (“Elmer Gantry”, 1960), one of the greatest male film stars ever was a Clemson fan!

This is certainly early recognition of our great future as the very best, a 1973 movie featuring Clemson attire. This is a much better movie than Oliver Stone’s “JFK” made almost 20 years later.

"Life is short. Stop and eat some grass!"

Mr Lancaster made a movie in this area (Clemson, Anderson) before Executive Action. He became a CU fan and wore that hat in the movie even though it was not accurate time-line for 1963.

Actually it was "Midnight Man" that Lancaster appeared in that was made on the Clemson Campus. I remember it well.

And for the record, this movie was the first appearance for a young actress named Catherine Bach who later became popular as "DAISY DUKE"!!! Remember her Tigers???

Not really a very good movie but one of the few that Lancaster directed himself.

I thought it was a good movie. There are several people from Anderson in the movie as was my sister, although her part was cut out but I remember she got a big check for her small part. I wonder why you never see it on TV these days. Ireally want to see it again.
