For those wanting Pearman to be "The Guy"

come on man, it's one game, and a spring game at that. I will admit he did look far more comfortable than Cade, but that's easy to do when you've got nothing to lose. Also, think about this. If you're Swinney, you want to, and need to give Cade EVERY OPPORTUNITY to succeed. You have the number one guy in the country out of HS as your #1, you can't replace him with a preferred walk on, who's dad is on staff, unless he's clearly FAR AND ABOVE better. If you do you better be right. If he plays well, you're a genius. But if or rather WHEN he struggles at some point, you're now gonna have to defend why you had a HS All American who was #1 in the nation, and you sat him for a Preferred Walk on who's dad happens to be on your staff. You get me? I know, most are like me and I don't care who it is, just want the best guy, but folks get fired for making the wrong decisions like that so you have to be sure. I don't think Swinney would get fired, but he'd fall under heavy scrutiny and who knows, depending on how many we lost.

Paul Macko was the next great RB in the spring scrimmage a few years ago.

Maybe one day people will learn to not freak out over one spring practice? Meh, I doubt it.

It's pretty ridiculous for people to be drawing those sorts of conclusions

from the spring game.
Pearman played great, but it was a scrimmage. One scrimmage. The chances of him truly being a better QB than Cade at this point, who gives us a better chance to win, are very slim.
For me, it's less about Pearman and more about Cade. Cade did not play well, and a lot of what we saw in the spring game seems to be a continuation of what we've been seeing from him all along. For someone with his pedigree, who has been in our program over two years now, and who is our returning starter, I would think that a spring game should be pretty straightforward for him. He shouldn't struggle to make decisions and execute them. It doesn't give me much confidence about the upcoming season, but we must remember that there is a lot of time for practice and game prep between now and our first game.

I agree, Judge. I just hope Cade really turns a corner between now and Fall, but I have to admit, I don't think that is likely. Maybe with a better performance from our OL our QB will become a real asset, rather than a remaining question mark. We find out in a few months. I hope we are pleasantly surprised.

I honestly don't think people are freaking out, we just all saw the same thing.
Cade struggled when it was time to perform. Not doubting his physical abilities one bit, but I am his decision making.
The area Cade struggled the most in last season was decision making.
That's an area Trent Pearman excelled at in the Spring Game.
I have no clue how he'd perform against our opponents but I have an idea of how Cade will. Hopefully he gets his head right and becomes the QB we all know he can be.
As a coach I'd make TP14 my QB2 and tell Cade to make better decisions or lose his job. Fortunately for Cade and Tiger fans everywhere, I am not.
So this is just my worthless opinion.

So in other words, Klubnik is making bad decisions on purpose.

Not on purpose but if I made bad choices that cost me money everyday at my job I wouldn't expect to have one.
