the typical maga trumper.
I firmly believe if somebody commits a crime seen on live television (trump’s speech at the January 6 rally and inciting the crowd to attack the capital) I would throw the book at him. Lock him up. Commit the crime, do the time.
In 2024 seems like Maga folks somehow believe he should have immunity, or is being unfairly treated or some other weak liberal naĂŻve BS.
Lock him up for the federal crimes he has committed on TV.
The dude hijacked the GOP since 2015.
The GOP is no longer a conservative political party. It is now an aimless ineffective online mob following a reality TV star.
Let’s get back to real conservative principles.

did he denounce? Did he, at any point, tell people to settle down and let him and his attorneys handle it through proper channels? Has he, at any point, denounced his white supremacist supporters, like the Proud Boys and such? I'm seriously asking.
Maybe he has, but I doubt it. If you support him 100% and pledge your undying fealty to him, he's ok with whatever it is you espouse.
Has he ever denounced misogyny and talked of respecting women? Or, much less, talked of respecting those with whom you disagree? Has he ever shown one ounce of humility or maturity?
I totally get how people liked the policies he put in place and legislative and executive actions he spearheaded during his term. I'm with you on that. But this isn't the same guy. He's not a leader. He's totally and 100% in it for himself and for his own vindication. It's personal. Now he wants to stick it to everyone who he thinks conspired or is conspiring against him. That's all this 3rd run is about. Retribution.

but there may be state laws that preclude someone being convicted of certain charges from being on a ballot automatically. I don't know.
In general, the American electorate is pretty stupid. How many times have dead men been elected? I can think of at least twice.

He hasn’t been convicted of anything yet. He didn’t incite a riot. He told all protesters to be peaceful.

Simply because Trump pushes it and they'll swear you're a liberal for not agreeing. They don't understand political ideology and aren't exceptionally intelligent (and the data supports that).

every word of it, and I do not believe he intended for people to forcefully, illegally enter the capital. No crime there on his part. I do think his ego nearly exploded when he saw it happeneing, however, and he privately basked in that glory as long as he could before attempting to quell it. I'm no legal scholar, and I don't know how it's all going to pan out, especially since it is 100% politicized, but my real problem with Trump came when he tried to have the election overturned because his ego could not accept the reality of loss and failure, even after many of his own people were telling him there was no election fraud.

Trump simply does not take "no" for an answer. Nobody tells him what to do.
Feb 29, 2024, 11:33 AM
[ in reply to I have no problem with his speech that day, even though I may not agree with ] |

When somebody tells him "no", he views it as a challenge, and sets about finding a way to do it anyway, and sets about insulting and criticizing them. Tenacity and sticking to your beliefs is usually a good thing, but when everything becomes a personal challenge that blinds one to context and the bigger picture, it's dangerous, epescially when it's a person in power. Telling him that he lost an election was unacceptable to him; he just could not and would not believe it, and he set about trying to "fix" it. Yeah, he's a very strong personality, and I get that's what draws a lot of people to him; but he's a power hungry narcissist who is used to running over anybody who gets in his way.
Has the leftist media and corrupt system been "fair" to Trump? Of course not, they hate his guts because he is unaffected by their usual tactics, and it only seems to make him stronger. There are no good guys in this battle, no side worthy of the all-out support of American citizens. It is a total shidshow and I hold out hope that people will wake up.

Please post the transcript of his speech and highlight the areas where he encourages an insurrection, or violence of any kind. We've all read it and know those things don't exist no matter how many threads you start. In fact it would be much easier to find Democrat politicians seeming to encourage violence over the past four years. Why don't you ever start threads whining about them? Oh that's right. You're deranged. Carry on.

Never voted Dem for President, have voted for some Dems for local and state offices, but find myself where you are in regards to Trump.
It's ok to vote 3rd Party and more on BOTH sides should do it. I don't get how so many are still gonna vote for Biden who is clearly not fit to be POTUS. I seriously doubt any on this forum who are going to do so would hire Joe as an attorney or even as a babysitter, yet instead of rejecting the nonsense of having an obviously mentally diminished President, will vote to elect this man to probably the most important job in America.
Trump is dangerous we are told, yet electing Biden is not a danger to this country? Do you want him answering the 3 AM phone call after China has invaded Taiwan or North Korea has launched an attack on South Korea? Is the defense of voting Biden that some unknown nonelected person or persons are actually in charge? You good with that?
I understand the reservations about Trump, but feel the reservations about Biden are just as profound if not more so. Spare me the dictatorship stuff too. That's not going to happen. Trump would be hanging on a meat hook or capped if he actually tried that.

Your assessment of the GOP is correct...

In order for our democracy to function & strongly survive (not just barely survive), we need a conservative party that can be normal, that can attempt to govern in good faith.
The GOP was slipping long before Trump got involved. But at this point, they've been hijacked by MAGA. I think the non-MAGA Republicans should form a third party and try to rebuild a sane conservative movement. When you look at Nikki Haley's support, it looks like about 1/3 of the GOP primary voters don't want Trump. That's enough to start a new party, IMO.

strong regarding Foreign policy and national security. Putin’s Russia and Xi’s China were recognized as the primary existential threats to Western democracy and US security. Some alliances would be imperfect such as NATO, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Mexico and even Israel. Yet there was an unwavering commitment. Somehow those tenants of Conservatives have evaporated.
In addition, Conservatives had a certain pragmatic realism regarding things like science, technology, medicine, energy and the environment. Policy would be based on the science and available technology not denial of issue. Regulations would be crafted with a balance that included economic considerations. Few people realize that almost every significant environmental law was passed during a Republican administration from Clean Water, Clean Air, Superfund Site Remediation, Hazardous Waste Management and Community Emergency Response. And Republicans recognized the need for workplace safety including chemical exposures. Now anything that requires an understanding of science above the 9th grade level is greeted with that’s BS.
And yeah, I watched J6 live. The criminality of that day cannot be denied. The linking with fake elector schemes makes it more significant.

If Trump committed insurrection he would of been charged long ago - He has NEVER been charged
They make up this other BS, tried twice to impeach him, and still nothing but frivolous civil lawsuits in liberal havens

Interesting thing about wars...
Wars with large US Casualties WWI - Woodrow Wilson (D) WWII - Franklin D Roosevelt (D) Korean War - Harry S Truman (D) Vietnam - Lyndon B Johnson (D)
Smaller Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, Iraq, War on Terror - Bush's (R) Bosnian - Clinton (D)
Last two terms: Did not start or escalate any existing foreign conflicts with US military involvement - Trump (R) Israel and Ukraine - Biden (D)
And you might want to look here for tax information.
https://www.irs.gov/statistics/soi-tax-stats-irs-data-book#:~:text=During%20Fiscal%20Year%20(FY)%202022,%24641.7%20billion%20in%20tax%20refunds
Looks flat for both business and individuals from 2016-2020 but shows an increase for both from 2020-2022 with the individual increase being significantly more (over a trillion).

'We won this election, and we won it by a landslide'
'We will stop the steal'
'We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn't happen'
'If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore'
'We are going to the Capitol'
But then trump abandoned his magat comrades and did not go to the Capitol. Weak! I know Ya’ll magats gonna tell me the SS stopped him from joining. That’s cuz they know he planned, created and launched the march to the Capitol so they knew he would be even more criminally guilty if he was physically present at the Capitol. But Don didn’t have the balls to join the magats and fight like hell as he directed them. Instead he sat on the couch and watched his magats do the dirty work and eventually go to jail. Magats are so gullible. LMFAO!
