Best offense we’ve faced coming up Saturday. Maye will slice us up if we give him time. Also will make big plays running if not contained. I think this is Wes’s big moment to prove his wizardry.

If he goes into that 3 man Prevent Line with soft coverages, Maye will eat us alive. If he pressures him, we win. Come on Porky. Turn em loose, son! Let em play!

He is going to have to bring the pressure and be creative with his blitz schemes. I feel good about our man to man coverage but we will have to watch out for Tez Walker and keep him in front of us.

Remember what we did to them last year in the ACC champ game? They had an elite offense last year and didn’t do anything against our d.

I'm sure they learned more about defense from the
ACCCG but I believe that we can handle their schemes.
They will have some good plays but I think not enough.

Why do you think Wes needs to prove himself? He had some learning moments last year which should have been expected given his lack of coaching experience. This year, he has certainly shown great improvement over ten games and has been more than solid on that side of the ball. The thing to understand is for any particular game, the offense may have more answers than the defense so judging a DC based on one game is fools gold. We know this because Venables, who was a great DC, had games where he had no answers.

Rewatched the ACCCG last night. Wes had a great gameplan last year

and I imagine it will be similar on Saturday. Send pressure every play from different spots on the field. Rely on DBs to cover receivers (which our DBs can do). QB pressure will lead to errant throws, sacks, and turnovers.
Hopefully we can block a field goal and get a pick-6 (or two) again.

One huge thing Wes has improved on is, in game adjustments. Just like ND and GT started out having their way, sort of, then the clamps were put on them. Pretty much most of the year with the exception of Miami it been a clinic on adjustment.

This will be a referendum on him being a day one pick or the top CB to be selected. If he shuts Walker down he will lay claim to a nice payday.

With the exception of the Dook and the Miami games, Wes has been able to make adjustments to shut down opposing offenses. If he can keep Maye uncomfortable, I like our chances.
