The NIL giveth, the NIL Taketh away.

The ‘take away’ aspect will be worse for those programs where the big NIL winner brags in public about his NIL deal. This type of behavior is akin to bragging to your teammates about how much more important than you are to them.

It is not so much the NIL money that the marquee players get; it is more about how the marquee players play their roles as team leaders.

S.Carolina was (is) in the unfortunate position of having to settle upon an OK QB (superb deep ball accuracy, mediocre pocket presence, too many really bad decisions) with a poor locker room reputation. His skills as a player makes him S.Carolina’s best QB since forever (better skills than Conner Shaw). But as a mercenary with a known reputation as a poor locker room presence at OK, S.Carolina has hitched their wagon to a good driver who has a history of DWIs.

8 - 5 is a good season; beating TN and us was a very good accomplishment … especially so for being at the end of the season.

However, 8 - 5 is not a transformative season. Rattler’s presence will bring in more donations from G’#### boosters (for the coming year), but how sustainable will those donations be if S.Carolina recedes back to 5 - 7 or 4 - 8 season for 2023 season.

Big time other G’#### players seem to be holding up S.Carolina to having to be the highest bidder (as opposed to just being competitive) in order to stay with the G.Cocks.

Will Rattler’s presence more than make up for the key players who are leaving via the portal?

Is the Rattler on-the-field play worth the baggage that comes with him?

Maybe CK2 or Shipley or Peyton Page or Marcus Tate will behave poorly (brag publicly) when getting their next NIL deal. Who knows?

My bet is that Clemson’s superior culture (which includes recruiting players that have more to offer than just playing ability) will allow us to be competitive with the NIL marketplace, and that our NIL ‘winners’ won’t be bragging all over the place (showing up their teammates).
