Interesting the standard bearer for CF panic offers the 2 newest shiny objects

only to be turned down by both.
I guess I just gave Alabama too much credit in thinking after such a long, unprecedentedly successful run, they’d apply a more thoughtful search, interviews, a challenge process towards making such a critical decision.
In my view, Alabama’s handling of this is eroding the brand by the minute.

Alabama is nothing. Saban and the Bear were something.

Tuscaloosa isn't magical. After Bear left, and until Saban, they had one NC in thirty years. Stallings with Dabo.
Fat Alabama bankers and lawyers in Birmingham and Montgomery that literally sweat gravy think they've been able to buy themselves something, but that place is nothing special. Not like Clemson at all.

Many Clemson fans have fallen into a similar trap.

I think there is something special about Clemson, but I am NOT a 18 year old kid with prospects all over the country.

Critical thinking just took a sharp nose dive in Tuscaloosa. I'd give the AD another six months before she's fired.

I believe they thought coaches would line up for that job and it ain't happening. It appears they will have to go to Plan D, E, F, and G.

Announced negotiations, right? Not a formal agreement yet?
DeBoer is going to get paid one way or another, but I don't think he has the HC experience yet and I think Washington has the money to keep him for their transition to the Big 10...just my thoughts.

Someone has to come in and bring the fan base back down so the coach after whoever this is will get a fair shot at establishing themselves. Next guy gets 2 maybe 3 years max.

I can see a series of that taking place for Bama over the coming years. The SEC has a depth of talented programs to compete with, and it just went up a notch with TX and OK. Unlike how an Ohio State can barely skip a beat from one coach to the next due to the B1G being so largely lackluster outside of a few top programs, and the resources they have in place, Bama actually has peers that are more established, and already nipping at their heels.
I pity this next guy, and the guy after that, and the guy after that actually. Could be a long and frustrating decade ahead for the pachyderms.

Hopefully they go through a phase similar to what they did with "The Mikes"
