Imho a Win over NOTRE DAME will do more to "promote" CLEMSON..

with the national football nation..just b/c they're probably the most winning program ever when you add up the wins, NC trophies, Heisman winners, mystique, history, following..with lots of national fans due to that & religion..plus the media coverage that follows them (still).
I know, I KNOW that for us & the NC selection committee it will be just one of the many cogs needed to get where we want to be..to play in the NC playoff..we must beat FSU, beat GT, be in the ACCCG, etc...
But, I'm Just saying from a perspective of what gives us the highest "single-shot" EXPOSURE Nationally..it will be beating the Irish who are viewed by the college football public as a slight notch above FSU in my view..and SC is way below both of them which isn't being mean-spirited but just the truth when you look at their resume over the past 115+ years (just above 50% in total wins).
Yep..and the coverage that week & day of game will be over the top, and let's hope it"s ESPN GAMEDAY too on Bowman on a beautiful Fall day..with a 3:30 OR 7-8PM kick-off.
GoTiGERS...beat the Irish!

Disagree. College football has changed and Notre Dame isn't the program they once were. Sure, their name still carries cache, but it's for their history and the mystique, not because they're such a great football program. If we want to get the nation's attention, we need to beat FSU. Period.

It would certainly be a great win with them bringing back 19 starters from 2014 ready to hit the field for 2015. It would be a win that (seeing as though they should remain a top 10-20 team throughout) the CFP committee would point to and come to.the conclusion that we've earned our spot..... IF, and only if, we win the biggest 2 games of the season: FSU and the ACC Championship game.
Essentially we could win all our games except against a .500 coot team and.still get in.
Oregon lost to arizona last year while OSU lost to Va Tech. Bama to an overrated ole miss team who lost like 4 games.
1. FSU 2. ACC Ship 3. ND 4. UofL 5. Ga Tech 6. Miami

the ND game, if for no other reason, because folks are aware of their history and renown.
Likewise, the Golden Domers will probably travel well to Clemson, if for no other reason, because they'll want to bask in the glorious mystique and aura of our special refuge in the hills and...to see our beach! lol

You are right that a win over ND gets you immediate accolades and publicity (whether it really should or not), and I would imagine they will be pretty good next year. However, to paraphrase borrowed a line from a movie, "We will look for them. We will find them, and we will kill them." It really is just that simple. I see us going right on just like we did in the OU game with very little drop off, and probably an even better team.
