that we would be 10-3 at Christmas, including 2-0 in conference play, with four players in double figures, would you have taken that?
We have a lot of basketball left, but I would think even the harshest basketball critics here are pleased with where we are right now.
Yes, I realize that some of you still aren’t over losing to the Coots, I’m talking big picture here. Many of you predicted a losing record this year including being one of the worst teams in the ACC. You especially should be thrilled with where we stand right now.

I like the way this team is playing. A number of guys are contributing in various ways.. They seem to be well prepared.
I’ll follow them regardless but it sure is fun seeing this team play. Been awhile since the Tigers were undefeated in league play at years end. Hope they can beat the Wuffies.

I like the start and I like the attitude of the team. At the beginning of the year, I would have gladly taken this start. I just hope Brad doesn't pull a Brad and start trying to be a game-day coach like he did with Loyola. We don't need games where we ###### defeat from the jaws of victory although that game certainly wasn't one of them, but he does have a habit of over-coaching at some really bad times.

Not trying to be overly critical. Overall, I am satisfied. But if you had told me before the season, as you stated, all of that but that 2 of the losses would be to jr. and Loyola, I am not sure I would have taken that before the season. Those are 2 really bad basketball teams. However, those should not cost us an NCAAT bid. If we are as good as you think we are, we should end up with at least 20 wins in the regular season, and that will likely get us into the NCAAT, which is the goal this year.

has happened to Clemson basketball over the last decade is sad, and is causing me to lose interest. And yes, I know it's not all Brownell's fault. Having said that, I still want Clemson basketball to succeed, so yes, I'm very pleased that we are 10-3/2-0. They have looked really good so far, for the most part. I'll definitely take it, and I hope it continues. I've seen this movie before though, so we'll see. We were 9-4/1-1 at this same point last year, and we finished 17-16/8-12, 10th place in the ACC. The year before we were 9-3/3-3 at this point, but was a covid year and no post season. In 2018-19, we were 9-3/0-0 at this point, and finished 20-14/9-9, in 8th place. The point being, yes, I'll take where we are right now, we're in excellent shape, so there's reason for hope, but Clemson basketball fans have been disappointed too many times in similar situations.
So, let's see how it all works out, cautiosly optimistic, but let's be honest and realistic and realize this is nothing that special.

I’m what some would call cautiously optimistic … I do like what I see from this team especially early in that Tech game with the cutting to the basket, the nice passing and easy buckets around the rim. I also think this team is capable of shooting it pretty well outside I just hope they don’t fall in love with it and learn you can be a great 3 shooting team but this offense should no doubt still run through PJ every trip down the floor. I also like what I’m seeing from the youngins for sure, but like I said I feel like we have seen this before so we will see if we can sustain it , and hopefully we do and maybe just maybe after all these years build off of it

With the schedule like it was.
The 2-0 ACC start is nice.
We’ve lost to GT in other situations recently, so it’s good to win there.
But this team probably should be 11-2 right now. No way to spin the scar loss.
I would think now in year 13 or whatever it is, we should all know that we still don’t know what this team will ultimately do. I do know they need to stockpile wins in conference play though…it’s not the old days where 20 wins gets you a bid.

How could any “footballer” whine over losing to the Coots in BB? Between the turnovers, horrendous QB play and coaches with their heads for far up their arses to refuse to play Cade at all - no CFP and now having to hear the crowing for a year .. I think our BB team is off to a good start.

Looking at who we’ve played outside of conference, we lost to the one good team we played and 2 with .500 records. 2 teams we have beaten currently have winning records. 8-3 is nothing to write home about, but I guess it is acceptable. With such a seasoned coach, we probably should have run through that schedule no worse than 9-2, but 8-3 is not terrible and keeps the tournament as a possibility going into conference play.
I am happy to see the 2-0 start to conference play. WF and GT appear to be near middle of the pack quality teams in the conference this year, so if we win most of those type contests we should have a good year. We are likely going to have to finish well over .500 in conference this year to make the tournament, so this is a nice start.

He specifically denoted .500 records from losing or winning. So for someone who loves to call people dumb you might want to be a little more explicit. Because he was. And he is correct. I assume you’re counting all the .500 teams as having “winning” records. Which I will grant is customary. But the poster you are trying to dunk on and act superior to made clear that wasn’t included in his winning record tally.
And this is all crap. We’re undefeated and tied for first in the ACC yet 77/80 in Net/RPI. Our SOS is trash. With a better than anticipated overall record at this point we’re still well outside of the NCAA bubble because, as usual under Brad Brownell, we have lost multiple games we absolutely shouldn’t have lost. But 13 years of same old, same old isn’t enough for some.

Football has taught us previous seasons have absolutely nothing to do with current status and should not be considered. That’s how we know Clemson is no longer elite but Cincinnati is. Also, Alabama is no longer an elite program, but TCU is.

Better than expected record, absolutely.
Basketball has really dropped off in quality in the ncaa. Not sure what caused it, but the level of play has dropped.
We might as well take advantage of that.
Must also note that we have yet to play a ranked team. But that being said, the ACC does not have much strength and have a couple of historically bad teams, so that will help Clemson as well.

I am more than pleased especially considering our best player is still not 100% healthy. Coot loss is an outlier. Godfrey and baby Hunter looked great v. Tech. PJ inspirational leader. I like this team.

No matter how the season ends, this is fun basketball to watch. They can play inside and out. They have a guard that can create his own shot off the dribble. PJ is probably the best player in the ACC and there are some good players around him that are developing. I’m

Before posting something you think is positive, you should compare other years after winning 9 or 10 games before Jan 1. You won’t be posting much in February!

Getting Hall back earlier has been a nice bonus. I think the real surprise though may be ahead of us as the ACC is looking very subpar compared to season's past, and we already know we had a very favorable league schedule to begin with having more of our 2-game series versus back end squads instead of top end.
It's great not already having your season over by January 1st, but I am concerned that the ACC is looking so down this year that the quality wins needed to make the dance will be harder to come across for us. It's also a little disappointing that Brad is 0-2 in 1-possession games already, which has been a big bugaboo with him over his time here. Those close games are critical for having enough wins in the regular season to move on, and also critical for success in post-season tournaments where the matchups get more competitive.

I would not have taken that. The ACC is as weak as ever. Last year Wake Forest went 13-7 in ACC and didn't make the tourney. The non-con also looked pretty weak, with Iowa the only team to receive an AP vote, putting them 36th if you extend the rankings. And WF and GT weren't expected to be any good. To be a tourney worthy team (which doesn't even require you to be all that good), we needed to lose at most 2 games at this point, and preferably only 1, and I think we could've done that. Our current NET ranking of 77 reflects this, which is about the same as last year's final ranking of 81

81 in RPI, 78 in NET, 61 Kenpom. That’s about where I expected. The inconsistency has been an issue with two terrible, quad 4 losses and good wins against Penn State and Wake. They have looked good the last two weeks. Hopefully, they can continue and rack up enough wins in the ACC, already off to a good start.

season ended today. We still have a lot of work to do, against a more difficult schedule, in order to make the tournament. This is the ONLY acceptable outcome for Brad's 13th year, and if he makes the tournament and bows out in the 1st game, it may not be enough.

Overall I’m happy with where we are! We have shown a lot of offensive firepower both inside and out and the freshmen have all flashed at one point or another. Also PJ really seems to be coming along and potentially nearing 90-100%.
That said, we’ve seen Brownell teams in a strong position at this time of year many, many times before only to go like 9-11 (or worse) in ACC play. We have also taken two really really bad OOC losses. I’m worried we may suffer the fate of last year’s wake team who went 23-8 and 13-7 in league play and got left out in March. With the ACC remaining down, we are in danger of that sort of outcome. Either way, I can’t wait to see how it all plays out, and I hope to see y’all in LJC on Friday
