Moving the visiting bands up to the upper deck or will visiting schools be able to choose how to use their 500 lower level tix. The tiered walkway on lot 5 does look like it’ll be a pretty cool vantage point.
Spot the ball!!!

I think moving visiting bands to the upper deck is tacky

Even if "other schools" are doing it.
That being said, given the location of my season tickets (Section S, just a few sections from the visiting bands), I wouldn't be too torn up if some of the larger bands are relocated. I get pretty tired of hearing nothing but the opponent's band for the entire game--notably SCar, FSU, GT.

We've seen how our band & traveling fans have been stuck in some lousy areas, so Neff looks to have responded in kind

We have ND coming in again this year and the last time their band was in that lower deck corner. The Let’s go Irish” cheer got really old. But then again, every time they started it, we just made more noise to drown it out.
I agree with the change. We don’t enjoy premium seats at most away games so why should we give opponents that luxury?

Need to stand up for yourself because no one will do it for you. Good on Neff for putting most of the opposing tickets in the upper deck. That's what is done to us.

Been in west stands 40 years, no opposing band would be best. Can’t hear anything but noise taking up prime seating. Not needed, not high school anymore.

No word on changes to the hill. Translation: nobody wants to own the debacle of destroying an iconic tradition. Oh they’ll whitewash it with safety blah blah blah but somebody, and probably quite a few people, know everything they plan for that over the next 10 years and it will just continue to erode any links to the past.

ACC schools like UVA and VT put the visiting bands in the upper part of the stadium but that doesn't make it right. I haven't noticed any of the SEC schools doing that. A reduced pep band might be one thing in the upper deck but when a school and rival that is closer by like the Coots, GT or FSU (Auburn too when they visited DV) bring their full band then it's going to be difficult for them to perform for the home crowd at the half as there is no way to get from North Upper to field without exiting and a long trip. Seems a little rude if you ask me. Does Clemson really need to be like the other weak A She She schools?

What's good for the goose should always be good for the gander, so I'm wondering what took them so long to figure that out. It could bring them all into seeing that should be talked about and bringing fairness for all by getting opposing bands away from sky hooks needed situations.

… To the upper deck, but that means OUR band and guests will forever be relegated too.
Instead, why don’t we treat the opposing team band and fans’ seats the same way they treated ours the last game at their place.
The upside is that “maybe” some of those institutions would decide it would be better to treat us nicely, and in turn, we would do the same.
That seems more in line with the Clemson culture IMO.

Are you beginning to see that an AD's job is far more than worrying about if a coach wins an exact number of games. No doubt winning in every sport is vital but an athletic department at a major university is so much more than that.

I don't like the moving and reducing of visitor seats either - we should set the standard for hospitality, not be dragged down to that of others. Its the lost art of sportsmanship and civility among disagreements that has eroded our society but I digress. We have plenty of good seats for almost all games and while it annoying to hear those teams like FSU, ND, SC etc. on and on, it adds to the game day experience of competition AND of course don't we all like to hear Tiger Rag while watching our road games on TV? And the hill - I hate to hear that there is even a thought to replace it with seats - then we just become the same as every other stadium out there. DON'T DO IT!

Agreed 100 percent. The football atmosphere at other ACC schools is pathetic. When our closer by rivals like GT, FSU and SCAR bring a 300 or 400 member full band and want to perform at the half for Clemson it's going to mean way fewer lower deck tickets for their big money donors. Expect the big donors at Clemson to get the same treatment when Clemson goes to their stadiums. Heck Clemson is even the school that invites the visiting band director to direct Tiger Band during the national anthem. Is he or she supposed to walk back and forth from the upper deck now?

I don't see anything said in the article about them moving the traveling fans/band. I do see where they are going to reduce the number of tickets. So possibly we will allot another location in the upper deck for tickets to the other team as well. That would leave it up to the visiting team to decide where they put the band, maybe?
But the article states that the fans will still be in the west end.
“So we have reduced the amount of visiting team tickets significantly there. So not only have we added more seats in the west, we are reducing the amount of visiting team allotment that we provide down there. There’ll still be some, we’re going from 2000 to 500. So there’s some that’ll be down there, but not that inherently just adds more physical seats because of the tunnel construction…”

trees being removed are satisfied (but then again, that's just probably how they are). Some on here were very upset at Clemson when the construction started and trees were disappearing. Maybe it was just the new fans that don't know how Clemson does things. Always "leaving things better than they found it". Clemson University does things right!
Go Tigers AND stay well Tiger Nation!

I do love the idea of replacing that useless steep bank next to LJ with a three tiered walkway which will be a nice overlook of Tiger Walk.

It will actually be the opposite useless steep bank....closer to Press Rd. Looking at the West Endzone from Perimeter Rd...it will be to the right. That may be what you're talking about, but just wanted to clarify.

Thanks. I misunderstood the "opposite LJ" in the article however I don't see why the other bank could not get the same treatment. Oh well.

Lights question
May 12, 2023, 6:08 PM
|
|
I thought that phase 2 of the new LED lights was supposed to be installed with this phase. Did I misunderstand something?
There is no reason that Clemson cannot have drones do a Tiger Paw for night games. The technology is there.
As far as the visiting band placement. The new policy is just in time to repay Notre Dame on Nov 4!

I am not a fan of having our band stuck in the upper deck and giving the other band premium seating. On the other hand our upper deck is steeper than most. Can you imaging walking up those steps with a tuba on your shoulder?

Finally. some has the balls to make this decision about the visiting seats/band ! Outstanding !!!
We’ve been way too generous over the years and other schools have not reciprocated. Put the visiting fans in the top corners of the upper deck and the first 10 rows of the east end zone in the sun.

Yes. And whatever we do, we need to do even worse to the domers. I will never forget being in the corner of the upper deck in an almost completely empty stadium in south bend during covid
