I just tossed my stereo I've had since 1997

It's kind of like losing a pet.
It was there to comfort me when I found out my parents were splitting up.
It was there when dad brought home his new girlfriend (and my new girlfriend).
I must have played it almost every day from 1997-2001. And when I would come home from college basically every weekend. It was there for me.
It eventually landed in the garage. It would be on as I worked on the boat, or the mower, or assembling a kid's present. Yes, it was there when MsLovin and I knocked it out on the tailgate a couple months back.
But now....It's gone. And I did it. I intentionally moved it from the table, into my truck, and dropped it into the metal waste bin at the local dump. I feel so bad. Like I abandoned my dog.
