The Jack Clark Factor, Senior Night

It's amazing how much of a difference this guy seems to make. He goes out midseason, we hit a rough stretch. He comes back, we're on fire. He goes out, we lose to Notre Dame. He's back next game, and we're lights out against Syracuse.
PJ and Schieffelin and Chase Hunter and Girard were all great. I'm not taking anything away from any of those guys. Obviously, you take one of those guys off this team, and we don't win as much. Subtract even one of those dudes and we might not even make the dance this year. But Clark!
The guy averages less than 4 points per game, and yet he just always seems to come up big. He has a huge impact on the game, but if you weren't paying attention, you'd wouldn't even notice!
Big time congratulations to all the guys. Proud of this team. Love seeing PJ and Chase Hunter finish off their careers at Littlejohn the right way. And a special nod to Jack Clark for what he's brought to the Tigers this year. Hope to see the Tigers do great things the rest of the way.

Do you think Clark is the main defender on Wake's best player guard Hunter Sallis?
He is a two guard but a solid 6-5, 6-6 and very quick for that size. I'm not sure Clark could stay with him.
He is projected as probably a 1st round deaft pick if comes out this season, or definitelly next.

Usually Clark and Chase guard the better players. I could see them rotating some on him.

Clark sure did a number on Hinson, though, and his length really seems to be a problem for guys he's guarding. I like what 74 said. Hunter and Clark both good options.

Yeah, it really is. Great post. Two transfers and you can definitely tell the impact. No one can really say because they're too many variables... but I think it's very reasonable to assume that had we Not had the transfers from our team to create the opening for jc and jg, this year's team would be nit bound.
Likewise, a reasonable assumption could be deducted that had cuse and nc st kept jg and jc respectively, both teams would be where we're at now. As I said, way too many variables to calculate the impact but a very reasonable assumption that the trajectory of all 3 teams would be different.
Very similar situations occurred to fsu and Louisville in football. Both of those teams have taken a similar approach to transfers this season. We'll see the impact. Point being, Brad will have to take the very same approach next season... whereas all of the scenarios will have an impact, I do not believe either will capture the lightening in the bottle as they did this season.
It's quite fascinating tbh.

You are spot on IMO. We seemed to have stepped up our NIL game for basketball and it seems to be paying dividends. Hopefully we can do the same this off season as we will need at least a center from the portal and maybe more depending who decides to leave the program

Using the transfer portal is necessary for teams who want high level success.

Brad has done a great job with this, not only being open to using the portal, but enthusiastically utilizing it to improve our team.

To watch him on defense. He frustrates whoever he guards. Opponents are afraid to pass to whoever he guards because of his length. When they do pass to his guy, that guy is afraid of getting their shot blocked. He has made a huge impact!

Clark is just cool hand Luke and seems to be in the right place most of the time. At the end of the day, we will go as far as Chase Hunter will take us. A winning team has to have good guards and when Chase shoots well and limits turnover, we have a chance.

Yes I believe Chase Hunter's 3 point shooting will be what decides how far we go in the tournament. His shot looks good just not sure why he is not shooting at a higher percentage.

I agree, he's very important to our team.

I believe we are now 10-1 when he starts.
His defense and rebounding are huge. The coaches have been working hard with Wiggins to focus on these areas as well, and he is improving. We will need that next year from Chauncey, along with his scoring.

Love Chauncey's upside. The thing I see with him is just looking a little timid. Makes me think of Milton Jennings sometimes.
Think he ought to be a great defender and rebounder. I think the three ball can improve too. Loved seeing him back his guy down and score at the rim last night. Makes it look easy sometimes.

Me too. He makes those jumpers around the basket and in the lane look easy.***
