We had always wanted a softball program and now we have a great & short history. Whatever we did to to start this program needs to be done in woman’s Basketball & our Tennis ?? program too.
This didn’t happen without great planning and investment in the program. I’m so proud for these young ladies too!
What’s the secret sauce?

in NCAA athletics history. Has ANY team hosted a regional in their second full year of play? AND this team probably would have gone to a regional in their first year if it had not been cut short because of COVID.

The secret sauce is John Ritman. Fair or unfair, true allegations or false, it ended badly at Stanford. But he was a great coach who probably wouldn't have given Clemson a sniff under normal circumstances. He had a long history with the national team. What he has done is incredible. In basketball, we hired a lady from Rice who was averaging 18 wins a year, and replaced her with a lady who went .500 at UAB. Then, we replaced HER with a lady who was out of basketball after being fired by Florida (her alma mater, btw) 2 years earlier. I have no idea about the tennis approach to coaching hires, but am not shocked the approach in softball worked, and the one in women's basketball has flamed out.

It's incredible that you need to label them based on a perceived social class instead of as student athletes or simply players.
From Websters:
adjective Sometimes Offensive. being a female: a lady reporter or a lady softball player

The interest in softball was there...it was a "build it and

they will come" scenario. Announce, build an awesome venue, hire an incredibly successful coach, then get top recruits. Easy-peasy recipe.
