I was in charge of one

No one wanted to help design so I did my best to come up with a theme that matched.
Missed a week's classes.
Failed a test the following week that I didn't know about.
Camped out on Bowman in a tent for 3 nights in a row.
Did not sleep one night.
Got in a fight with 5 guys on Friday night with someone tearing pomps off the float.

Worst and one of the best times of my collegiate career.

If you watch the Rose Bowl Parade or Macey's Parade you will see a great number of "floats" all of which are mobile and riding on a flat bed of some type. On Bowman Field during homecoming none of those works are mobile and therfore are not "floats".
In the 1960's they were called "displays"because they were stationary. They definitely were "float like" but they definitely were stationary and therefore were and still are "DISPLAYS".

We always called them displays in the 80's. Not sure where floats came from
