DJ Howard should slap Dabo...

How is his situation any different than Cole's? Dabo is just being a Cole Stoudt apologist. Yes, we have more depth at RB, I am aware...but honestly is DJ that much different than the other avg. younger backs we've played this year?
DJ was a 'terrific teammate and back up' the last 4 years just like Cole has been and 'earned' his playing time. So why doesn't he get slurped, I mean, praised like Cole gets and get the chance to play?
Dabo sat DJ after the week one start. Why did he not do this with Cole?

Your subject line is a tad dramatic I think.

I don't think Dabo actually thinks Cole is a very good QB

but he knows the kid needs his confidence if he has a chance of doing anything. And we really don't have an options, I mean Nick wasn't even recruited and he doesn't look like the best athlete. I think Dabo might just be trying to stick up for Cole at this point because if the kid has no confidence it can only get worse.

The only difference, IMHO..and it's been mentioned...is that we're slightly deeper at RB. Even if only slightly, that could affect things.
I think the staff would rather everyone forget that they named Howard the starter.

Situation isn't the same at all

The difference between the guys behind Howard and the guys behind Stoudt is that the RBs are ready to play but the QBs are not. Just because they're both seniors and both not great doesn't mean the situation are all that comparable.

Gallman and Choice are actually solid RBs, much

better than Howard. I ain't sure Schuessler is better than Stoudt, but I do recognize Stoudt is not good.

period. These coaches don't have agendas, other than keeping their jobs and winning. If he was the better RB, he'd play. It worked for Chad kelly, right?

DJ Howard started because of his ability to pick-up

a blitz/block better than the FR. They couldn't depend on them early in the season just like they couldn't depend on Watson to get the team in the right protection/play game 1 in Athens. FR don't start in hostile environments in season openers on the road unless you're desperate.
while Gallman has gotten better on picking up the blitz; he's still not as good as Howard at that. However, once Gallman started picking it up at a higher % it the trade-off becomes worthwhile because Gallmans YPC is going to be much higher when we do run the ball.
All that said, Brooks and Dye are going to be our best backs if/when healthy. Choice runs N/S really weel but needs to improve his leg strength- he goes down too easy sometimes for a guy who is supposed to be the little bowling ball(just needs the weight room). Gallman runs too high, misses too many blocks, and dances too much(although he seems to be getting better with that). I think our line is run blocking a lot better the 2nd half of the season which is helping Gallman. Davidson may be our best healthy back but the critical fumbles sent him to the doghouse.
