Good point. Some places will fire you quickly, I wonder how long H Davis will last at UNC?

Heck, sign me up. I can make roughly over $2,000,000 a year for 14 years and just have to win 58% of the time, win 0 championships, only make the NCAA tournament every 5 years or so, do nearly nothing in the post season and constantly get mulligans from the administration and 10% of the fanbase? That's a good deal! An insanely good deal!

Not firing him was part of the reasoning to attract desirable candidates, “I don’t know how you can fire a bball coach at Clemson who just finished 3rd in the ACC, made it to the conference semi finals, and almost won 25 gamed. Good luck finding the next coach.”
Was what was told to me after the change to not fire him after missing the NCAAT.

Now that the ACC has become less intimidating, a new coach
1

… might be more confident coming into the ACC to compete than the guys who had to put up with the “Tobacco Road” mafia for the past five or six decades.
Even super competitive guys like Rick Barnes could see the writing on the wall soon after arriving.
Even if you were good, there was just no room at the top.
Now UNC, NC State, Wake, … and yes even Duke are more vulnerable than any time in ACC history.
The right coach could now provide the tipping point for a program like Clemson.

He got a 200k bonus for 3ed place finish, this is from twitter. So the fans get nothing in return but he got money out of it. Seems legit

You can choose to be miserable by focusing on a few loses or you can choose to be happy about the 23 wins. The choice is yours

which highly sought after coaches will take issue with. We've had coaches that have left that recruited better, but those coaches were more liberal with how they ran their program. There was also speculation they weren't happy with the support.
Yes, I'm sure any potential candidate will take that into consideration, but not while ignoring the aforementioned. We don't want no Shane Beamer.

Texas Tech made a final 4 from Lubbock, TX, VT recruits better than us from Blacksburg, VA, Mississippi St in Stark Vegas, Penn St in Happy Valley, Iowa St in Ames, IA, Kansas St in Manhatten, KS, a bunch of other places.

We’re a 2 hour drive from Atlanta. The greater Atlanta area is one of the densest basketball recruiting areas in the country. Geography is not an issue.

currently. Or ever. Not to say the right hire can’t change that narrative. Dabo metaphor, anyone? But we are currently and historically a second tier job.

So much trash on this board. Heck, if we're going to compete in another league with big boys soon, having some newer facilities might just be a good thing to do. Sorry it can't all be football. We'll rounded programs are a good thing.

If they were planning on spending 40 million I wish it would had been 5-10 years ago. Would have gotten a lot more with that 40 million than we will in this economy.

Clemson job

Is now a better job since Brad Brownell has been the head coach. Many aspects of the program have improved. But Clemson basketball will never be a destination job. Location, history, and football will always work against basketball at Clemson.
