The truth is we can change our direction of travel, we are down to 14 games left if we win the rest so let’s go.
Life is full of adversity, it’s what you do with it that makes dreams come true.
Put you big boy work pants on this AM and let’s go!

Folks are also downplaying the coaching in Elmo who will have s big boy job in 2 - 3 years at the latest and they have a QB starting on Sundays.
Ain’t no reason to think we will give FSU a game right but we got two cupcakes to figure it out.

I thought winning the opener is a goal? If so, how are all the goals still achievable?

Beat Lamecocks is still possible.
Win ACC still possible with a lot of improvement.
CFP, highly doubtful as this team simply lacks playmakers outside of Shipley

While I admire your optimism, this isn't an "X's and O's" problem. It unfortunately goes higher than that. And they are typically not things that get fixed during the season.

I agree. It was a tough night for sure especially after the long off-season. Also all the hype coming out of camp. This team can still have a great season. I remember Ohio state losing the opener to VA Tech and winning the Championship.

I thought the same thing but that was their second game. They opened against Navy.

Win the opener. That goal is not achievable.

Humble, I would tend to agree with you if the turnovers kept us from winning. Fact is, Duke was a couple plays, and some (for us) a couple bad throws from their qb and a very fortunate muffed punt from being down 21-0 at the half.
Had we played like Duke in the first half and was down 7-6 at half, I'd feel a whole lot better. Duke's first fg and our first couple of series (missed passes) could have explained as first game jitters. But as the game played out, it became systemic problems.
I can stomach getting upset. Can't stomach the ineptitude we played with the whole game. We're bad and I tend to agree with most that it isn't as Dabo puts it, just cleaning up mistakes. We have talent and should have been able to impose our will on both sides of the ball. We did neither.

The goals need to change though

CFP and national title are no longer realistic goals for the current state of the program.
The main goals right now should be to fix the overall direction and management of the program and to salvage the season enough to maybe win 9 games and not lose to the Coots again. If this turns into 7-5 and a 2nd straight loss to our rivals, it's going to be even more difficult to get the program back on track over the next 2-3 years.
I feel like Dabo is trying to do things he's not good at, and has also been unwilling to adapt and evolve to remain really effective in the areas that he used to really excel.
I've always been on the side that believes Dabo is a pretty mediocre Xs and Os guy. That's not how he got us to the top of CFB and isn't going to he how he gets us back.
Dabo was, however, great at building the program to his vision, roster building, and surrounding himself with other good coaches.
I think his unwillingness to adapt to rule changes has hurt his recruiting. That's been compounded by his unwillingness to use the portal (to any extent) to address deficient areas.
And all of the promoting from within has been a disaster. A little bit of that is probably great, but obviously an entire staff of internal promotions and former players with no coaching experience was a huge mistake. Part of the issue is probably, again, Dabo simply isn't a good enough Xs and Os guy to be the one mentoring all of these inexperienced coaches. I'm sure Dabo has some great insights for these guys on building a program and a great culture and all of that, but I don't think he's the one to you want teaching a bunch of guys that have essentially never coached CFB.
I don't know where the program goes from here, but I don't think it's getting fixed this year because the issues I see aren't things that can be fixed during a season.

This mentality will work fine for the next two cupcakes on the schedule. Then it's gonna be back to reality after that.

The college football playoff.
We may can string it together and put it together and win the ACC and hopefully be state champs again but there’s no way this team goes undefeated the rest of the way. We’ll drop at least 1 more.
This is a much tougher schedule then we’ve played in years past.

Agreed that every goal we want to accomplish is still on the board. I can also say that for me personally, I think I’d rather play in a mid tier bowl game against someone we can be competitive against, than play in a high profile game and get boat raced. Obviously you want to make the playoffs and play for championships but I don’t want to do that if it means getting embarrassed on a national stage. Similarly to the WV Orange Bowl game.

Win the opener was a goal. We clearly can't get that one.
