Emotional experience yesterday

Sep 8, 2013, 12:40 PM

I cried yesterday as the Tigers gathered at the rock, and I don't cry... last time I cried was 18+ yrs ago at my dad's funeral. I felt his presence with me as the Tiger's prepared to run down the hill. I am not sure why, as I have seen this same exact entrance many, many times since his death. Yesterday I remembered that I have been going to CU games since I was 4 (I will be celebrating my 50th when we play NCST, and yes, I will be there). I remembered the many trips to DV as a kid, and I had 2 of my 3 kids there with me yesterday... I longed for my dad to be there to watch the game, to experience DV one more time, to cheer for Dabo and the boys and to see the continued tradition of going to games as a family, regardless of Gameday or SC State as the opponent... Dad loved the Tigers and I wish he was here to see what I feel is going to be a very special year for us. Thank you Dabo and the rest of the Coaching staff, thank you to the players and thank you to the fans. Clemson really is a family and I am proud to be a son of my Father, and a son of CU! Go tigers

I always get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye when the team runs down the hill, when we sing the alma mater, when I watch Tiger Band come to the stadium, when I walk on campus, when . . .

game and I was introduced to Clemson by my dad. Clemson is and will always be about family. It was so important for me to pass along CLEMSON to our son and daughter.

Take my son to his first game this season. It may sound crazy, but I was talking to my grandpa in heaven during the UGA game. I told him we needed a little help and then they botched the field goal...thanks grandpa!

My Dad, class of 1950, also a huge TIGER fan. I have so many fond memories of tailgating and games. He used to love to watch the band and cheerleaders come down the hill near Johnstone one hour before game time. On his 80 th birthday, he got a phone call from Dabo Swinney. He died a few days later. How special that was to him!,, But like you, when the Tigers run down the hill, I get all teary eyed. What a special place Clemson is... Hard to describe to an outsider. "There's
just something in the hills.!!" Husband and I are both grads as well as son and tons of other family members. Proud to be a part of the Clemson family. GO TIGERS!!!
