One thing that I've noticed in DJU this year is the

absence of his father's influence. I know his parents got divorced last year, and that had to take a toll on the young man, especially since it was going on so far away. But I remember in his 1st & 2nd years his dad seemed to be everywhere. Maybe he still is, but I haven't heard anything about him on here or elsewhere. Could it be that his dad was a little over-bearing and DJ has been able to put that to rest? I don't do Twitter or Insta so I have no idea, but just haven't seen any reposts here or elsewhere or heard anything at all about Big Dave this year so far.
I know some of his problems last year were physical, like his knee and weight, and others were to do with the team and inconsistency on the O-Line and youth everywhere else, but I think the psychological/emotional element may have been just as significant.
Just my 2 cents, which are now worth approx 0.75 cents adjusted for inflation. What do I know. I could be totally wrong. My wife reminds me of that frequently.

I have no idea of the dynamics inside the family.

But, I have seen more mention of his mother this year than his dad. Whatever the situation is, divorce his extremely stressful on the children - even 19 year old children.
As for your wife reminding you that you are often wrong, that brings up an age-old question:
If a man speaks in the woods and his wife is not around to hear him, is he still wrong?

Certainly a more stable situation with Big Dave on the other Coast. He's not a fan of Clemson based on how the recruiting of the younger kid is being handled.

I've never been a fan of Big Dave, who seemed to be stealing attention away from his talented kids & trying to transfer their attention to himself. Don't ever remember Dabo saying anything against Big Dave, but don't believe Big Dave's behavior sat very well with Dabo's or Clemson's culture. Don't believe DJ liked the drama of Big Dave, but that's my opinion--don't remember DJ ever having any comments (good or bad) about Big Dave. I agree that the internal strife between his parents probably didn't help with DJ's other challenges last year! In any case, from all reports DJ has always has been a team player & team leader for the Clemson squad even amidst last year's struggles! I enjoy Big Dave's absence--I pray his influence doesn't follow DJ's brother wherever his recruiting decision takes him!
