DJ = punter

Dec 4, 2022, 9:04 AM

I think it’s likely he’s just not into football and might leave football completely sometime over the next couple years.

But if he does stay in football he should be a punter.

Go back and look at the tape of the Chicken game. No wind up, no follow through, no effort but great hang time and 48 yards.

$1.5 per year. Long career. Fewer injuries.

The biggest problem with this path might be his dad. Dad wants him to be a stud NFL QB.

Follow the Logan Thomas path. Could be a good TE. He can run, break tackles, he has an understanding of the offense (he really has to have some idea). Can he catch???? IF he stays, give him the option. Dabo has moved people to different positions in the past.

He hasn't had Heather Dinich day, "But He is so tall!!" , yet!! If she posts that on a forum multiple times soon he might make it as a TE

We have an example of this - Patrick Sapp

Went to TE and then to LB.

Spent several seasons in NFL as LB.

We know he can punt. I’ve heard talk of him deciding for football over baseball in high school. Does he pitch? I would not be surprised at all. He is big and strong, just never seemed to have a natural feel for football or the mindset to believe he can win anytime anywhere .

I hear ya. Probably has the physical tools for tight end or pitcher, but it doesn’t appear he has the drive, motivation, competitive spirit for those positions.

That’s why I think punter could be good role for DJ.

I reiterate my analysis from 2021. He should put on 50 lbs (now 70) and play offensive line. He needs to stop trying to fight his genetics and let his inner Samoan shine. He would be NFL material at those positions.
