"Clemson freshman cornerback Kaleb Chalmers was arrested Monday by Clinton police and charged with simple drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Chalmers, a Greenwood native who was redshirted on the football team in 2015, was in possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana.

This was his first offense, and Chalmers was released on a $1,000 recognizance bond, according to records from the Laurens County Eighth Judicial Circuit Court.

According to the police report obtained by the Independent Mail, the arresting officer noticed two “suspicious” parked cars outside a closed bowling alley in Clinton at 10:14 p.m. Monday. The officer noted Chalmers was in the driver’s seat and a female was in the passenger seat. Chalmers was “moving around inside the vehicle more than an normal amount,” the report said, and the officer smelled marijuana when he approached the vehicle.

Chalmers was searched and told the officer that he had marijuana on his possession, which was found. He consented to having his vehicle searched, and police found pills of Vyvanse (the schedule II controlled substance), Alprazolam and Adderall. A digital scale was also found, and Chalmers admitted to possession of all illegal items.

He was arrested and booked at the Johnson Detention Center in Laurens. The female passenger was not arrested and was issued a contact only warning “due to the suspicious activity.”

Chalmers suffered a separated shoulder earlier this month in spring practice, but he was expected to return soon and factor into Clemson’s plans at a thin position. Chalmers was a Shrine Bowl selection and led Greenwood High School to the state playoff his senior season. "

So maybe Chalmers should rethink his approach.

Fact: Most kids in college are smoking weed. It's very easy to get like a Subway sandwich. Whatever happened to good old Budweiser and grain alcohol punch? I guess the fact they're both illegal too doesn't help or make sense.
