I don't get it. Even the bad coaches continue to get jobs. Any other occupation like that ? Maybe a meteorologist.

Just because the man failed as the UT head coach doesn’t mean he isn’t a really good position coach. Plus, he can obviously recruit his tail off...

It says to me that with Bama losing assistance after every season, he is preparing to have a good position coach ready to just move down a slot and take their place. Plus they have that year getting familiar with the going on's with Bama FB. Saban hasn't stayed on top bc he is a dumb A$S!!!

Except he won't be doing that at Alabama; they're hiring him as an analyst, not a guy who coaches on the field or goes forth recruiting. Jones actually would be allowed allowed to have contact with neither players nor recruits.

Especially with Alabama's level of coaching attrition - Saban lost five (5!) - of his 10 coaches this past offseason, it's easy to understand why Saban feels he has to load up on backup coaching staff so he's got guys who understand the system when the others bolt. Though I do wonder how long even Saban can keep losing staff before even he can't maintain continuity anymore.

So far, he always has, though, which is pretty durn remarkable, especially given how tough a guy he is reputed to be to work for.

I was speaking of already having him there if needed for next year. If he loses an assistant or position coach after this season, he could bring Butch in as an on the field position coach or as an assistant coach... Or where ever he would fit in the best!!!
