Blessing in Disguise?

Nov 23, 2015, 3:06 PM

Let me start by saying this - The Citadel.

(3-8) vs (11-0) - an initial line of 17.5 - Dabo vs ..nevermind I don't know who he is.

It seems so perfect. It always seems too perfect. So now, we are 11-0 and instead of worrying about Carolina actually being better than us the doubters worry we will overlook them. It's a rivalry, never know whats going to happen.. blah blah blah.

My message to everyone is pretty simple. We are better than them. We have better players than them at every position. We have better coaches than them. We have better athletes than them. Everything is there and its not complicated. We have more to play for than them. Its really simple. Don't overthink it.

The best thing (of course, only in my opinion) to happen to Clemson recently is Syracuse. Some may say why? We looked awful what could be good about that? But thats what I liked the most. After the game, they clearly knew that on paper we should have handled them much easier than a 37-27 ugly win. But its not on paper, and it doesn't matter what the predictions were. You have to play the game.

Venables was furious with the defense, yet instead of pointing fingers - he took the blame saying we made mistakes, but most of it was play calling. Then the next week they walk in to watch film and he rips them all. Telling them they didn't respect the game and letting them know he saw what we saw as fans - complacency. I believe thats the best thing that could have happened. We came out quick, then let them work right back into it, we simply got comfortable.

The fact that Venables saw that and hated it is what makes me and hopefully everyone else realize its what we needed. A little gut/reality check. Can we be the best team in the country? Can we win the whole thing? YES - I say we can. But not playing like that, and thats what is best. They saw it, put themselves in a bad spot, but still won. Coaching called them out and now it WILL NOT happen again.

So again I say - we are better. Every aspect. We dominate. They may come out pumped up and hang around for a quarter or so, but we will handle them. These boys know what is on the line here and they will be ready to go. A one week season started over last Sunday, and its going to be a fun one week season to watch. Relax. Enjoy. And who knows? Lou might swing by for a coaching interview after Shawn Elliot tries to top his shixty-shwee shweventeen outing of 2003.

They say its lonely at the top - I disagree. Tigers were comfy, now we're ready. Enjoy another year of the bragging rights. Tigers Roll!

Go Tigers!

I always worry about rivalry game. We were better a few years ago too. I believe we turned the ball over 5x or so and beat them in every category there is. Even one of or coaches was heard saying "I just don't understand". I never want to get arrogant thinking were just going to beat someone because.
