Still not back in house.

These type storms have significant long term impacts.

Been to Keaton Beach (where official landfall was) scalloping many times. Mostly stilt homes on a single canal. Expect they will have severe impacts. Prayers for the residents.

I realize it is beautiful, but I wonder why at this stage anyone would want to live on the on the gulf in the central gulf area to the panhandle. It seems like it's just going to get worse for them. Their insurance must be crazy as well.

That is why it is called a hurricane.

I will tell you this....the surfing at Ft. Walton beach right now is insanely good.

Probably blowout with too much wind. Also, the wind is likely blowing onshore. Messy

Thanks. Worst storm surge was at Cedar Key.

A little town, tourist attraction, on a small peninsula. Surge was predicted to be 12-16 feet. Topped off at 9.7 feet. About 30 miles south of landfall.

But, the good news is the storm came into Florida at the "Big Bend" area. That area has virtually no beaches and no towns along the coast. Therefore the damage will be nothing like it was when one hit Ft. Myers.

Major damage is tree limbs falling on houses or cars and the power outages due to winds and falling limbs knocking out power.

Florida is a "rinse and repeat" section of the U.S. Thank God for insurance.
