AP Poll is Fluid... Don't Be Surprised...

The rankings in the top 10 of the AP poll are very fluid right now. There's still 14 undefeated teams in the top 25. Nobody should be surprised if we win next week and still drop by one or two spots. Sports writers are a fickle lot.
Michigan State plays @ Michigan (with GameDay)
Michigan State just dropped 3 spots this week. If they get a "quality" win against Michigan (who's playing very well since losing to Utah on opening day), then they will probably jump back up a few spots.
Florida plays @ LSU
Either team that wins this game could very well jump us in the rankings too.
Just don't be surprised. We're ranked as high as #1 and still as low as #11. LSU's distribution is only #2-#10. We're merely 29 points ahead of them (1260 to 1231).

If we beat BC like we are suppose to and play good ball each week nobody will jump us.

Who cares?

Dabo likes to say there is nothing more meaningless than the score at halftime.
The 2nd most meaningless is what the poll looks like halfway through the season.

Based on the messages posted on this board, a LOT of Clemson fans care.
Personally, I'm more interested in continuing to win, improving, and avoiding injuries.
The only poll that really matters is the one from the Playoff Selection Committee and we won't see that one for several more weeks.

our "resume", especially the "Game Control" stat

is off the charts good. Florida is the only one close.
We've trailed for like 3 minutes all season (briefly vs. Louisville). That even tops teams like Baylor and LSU.
I'm told the committee looks at these metrics.

IMO, those stat are good only for justification of...

subjective opinion. Stats are fun but the field is never level due to SOS being a moving target which doesn't stop to be accurate until the final game of the post season has been played. At that point it is rendered worthless.

I tried to make a point that "style points" DO MATTER...

...but I was voted off the island. How the heck else to you explain Baylor? Style points can and probably will make a difference for a playoff system that only selects 4 teams.

Baylor's looked a heck of a lot better than TCU. And style points matter, but at the end of the season, we're in the playoffs if we're undefeated. I'd argue that developing depth and continuing the program's success long-term matters more than mid-season style points.

Probably. We aren't going to get a pretty win against BC...mostly because nobody gets a pretty win against BC these days.
Their defense is ranked #1 in the country.
Their offense is one of the worst.
Points are likely going to be very tough to come by in this game.

AP voters only know what ESPiN allows them to know.

There's no way a working man can watch all the football games even if they record them and watch them after work every night. These people are all working folks so they have only the highlights. No one puts together an exhaustive collections of highlights so they are relegated to viewing only what those who own the cameras are willing to show them.
ESPiN has the most toys therefor the most film of the games. As the teams rise in the polls their games are shown in prime time and the voters get to see them. We got a good bump for beating ND in prime time and we have another prime time game coming with FSU and hopefully the ACCCCG. If that doesn't do it, it won't get done.
