Things that turned me on BB

I always thought he was going to be good and I still think he's a good coach, just not a good fit for Clemson.
You need to be able to recruit good players for his style. It's a catch 22. Clemson doesn't have the name to just pull in good players. BB style is pretty boring for recruits. There is no pull. OP had a pull, we play up tempo and exciting bb. Brad would do great imo at an NCST or maybe even a Wake but not at Clemson. I just don't think he'll ever get enough good players to come play here for him to be a success(success being making the tourney).
Also, his style is losing the fans bigtime. It's boring and there's zero excitement around this program. His personality doesn't help either.
Add to the fact that the more OP players he has lost, the worse we have gotten. People say OP didn't leave him with much, but the more of Brad's recruits that have gotten here, the worse we have played. If OP's players were so bad, the opposite should be true.
I'm sure he'll get one more yr, but once again, next yr, I'm suspecting the excitement level will be down in the dumper like it was this yr.
I just feel like we're delaying the inevitable.
flame away.

I believe he needs coaching help. He sits players between coaches when they come off the floor and then those coaches don't talk to the player. He needs a post player coach for sure. If he makes no changes then he will be in his last year. He has made some good hires. Rick Ray was great. Virginia tech's coach would have been fine but he did not last long and Billy Donlan is fine at Wright State. Caoch B does need to spend more time with the fans but I believe he is shy.

Yet if there is not one in this ACC tournament, I think BB will be gone soon. I have been watching Clemson since the 50's and this is not the most untalented team to play here by far, but it is the lack of hustle - passion and a will to win that has bothered me so much. I hope for a miraculous turn-around in the tournament or bye bye BB!

Ya'll conviently forget that Stanton was a Brownell recruit who decided to transfer.
Give Brownell 1 more year, but if we are not in the NIT next year......pull the plug.

You mean a guy that he was forced to bring with him due to OP having ONE PG on the roster.
The guy that was quickly out recruited and transferred.
The guy that came in after Brownell was hired EXTREMELY late in the process.
Yes that guy is no longer here.
Your hatred for anyone other than OP is showing. Kinda sad you idolize a man who left Clemson due to his inability to keep it in his pants.

no flame. clemson needs to clearly define it's expectations

of the program. it sounds like they are doing some of this by considering a new facility vs new rounds of renos. there are all kinds of additional drivers as well.
one of the biggest pieces has to be the 'face' of the program - the head coach.
IF clemson dumps 60mil plus into a new facility, is it in clemson's best interest to seek a new, bigger name coach or has brownlee shown enough to garner the additional years it might take, with clemson's best foot put forward[facilities et al], to build a program with those clearly defined expectations in mind?
i'm not an Xs & Os basketball fan, but i believe it would be in clemson's best interest if they are going to commit that kind of keesh, to start anew by hiring a new coach. i wouldn't want to impede/hinder/limit the energy/momentum generated by the new facility with "old questions" surrounding the future of the head coach position.

Some of the young players show some promise, but they don't appear to be special. Brownell needs to recruit a difference-maker or two.

Yea,OP had pull allright. In fact his pull is so good he never got a team, any teanm he coached(Old Dominion,Dayton,Clemson ,or DePaul)past the first round of the NCAA Final Four. Maybe because his style, while exciting, wore his teams down. That would turn me.Add to that the way he bolted for DePaul and left our program in a mess makes me glad his style, his tempo, his excitment is gone. I suspect next year will be better. If not get back to me and tell me you said so. I just flamed!

disagree about his style not being right for Clemson.
If we had a couple of really good shooters right now, we'd be winning, and it would never occur to anybody to complain about or even critique his style.
Brownlee's success always has and still does depend almost entirely on how well he can recruit.

than the constant press/trap style that OP brought to Clemson. BB's style of play is also a lot less entertaining IMO.
Ultimately...it all boils down to one thing and that is having the shooters who can put the ball in the basket; something that both OP and BB really lacked.

When you implement that style of play, you really need a pretty deep bench to keep fresh players in the game because tired legs generally equates to poor shooting; something we experienced plenty under OP.

Barnes brought in BIG time players. Plus the ACC as WAY more competitive back then. He also showed emotion, he stood up to Dean and the ACC.
I would take Barnes back in 2 seconds.
