I'm pretty sure the Chef is our best player. At least most consistently.
Chase Hunter when dialed in and engaged is a terrific player. He sure seems to get to the rim quickly when he drives.
PJ....good lawd. Kid is a terrific player but really seems to have a knack for doing dumbshat on occasion. Prettys sure when he fouled out he said something to CBB and CBB told him to STOP BEING A UFCKING BABY. Then yelled something like GET OUT NOW. Even though PJ was wrongly accused and had to sit for a bit on that one foul, he only managed to play 19 minutes. Unexcusable for a player of his alleged calibur and from an alleged leader.
CBB. Welp, I'm more than thrilled that we've won 2 NCAAT games. Hope we win another and another. Still don't like this MF and would like to see him gone, but ain't happening.
Godfrey and Wiggins give us some good bodies underneath.
JGIII is a very good shooter. He does a good job of passing around the perimeter. He can make FTs. Everything else is meh. He ain't much of a threat to penetrate and is far from a scary defender.
Jack Clark is a spaz. He's our spaz though. He reminds me sorta of that dude Bryan Narcisse back in the day.
Them FTs did BU in. They coulnd't make shat and we couldn't seem to miss shat, particularly at the end.
Anywho, go tigers.

Clark is a lock down defender with his size and quickness. Hold my breath when he shoots though

If Chase could finish a drive as well as he penetrates the lane, he’d be the next Stephon Marbury. Clearly though if he’s on, we win, and if he’s off, look out.
And agree that PJ just is playing so far below his potential that it isn’t funny. It wasn’t a coincidence last night that our output went up when he was on the bench. I’m not saying that means I want the kid on the bench all game, but he has to step it up in the next game if we are to have a chance. The ####### fouls and continual misses 2 inches from the rim have to stop.

Hall sho-nuff didn't play well last night...

I think the ref inconsistent calls got in his head...but that's just a guess obviously. The refs would be ticky-tack on one possession and then they'd let the Baylor defender put 2 hands on Hall on the post with no call and/or let the defender shove Hall from the back. Hall missed a lot of hook shots his normally hits and him trying to run through that screen and then picking up his 5th on a sloppy loose ball was bad.
With that said, we did play well when he was out, but I think our ball movement is better with Hall in there. Defense can't defend the 3pt line nearly as well if they're also trying to double Hall in the post. And def having to respect his outside shot opens things up for others too. That cut Hall made where Shef hit him for the dunk was sweet. Hall's been doing more cutting from the outside in the last few games and it works well.
Anyways...Hall's got to step it up for us to beat Arizona.

breakout against Arizona. Crap calls early in the game and BOOM, 2 fouls, then it becomes an issue and he has to sit and cannot get momentum. He looked very pedestrian against Baylor except a couple good moves in the paint.
Chase looks great, hope his run continues.
Chef is a giant goober who can apparently ball. He is fun to watch.

I feel like this is a real opportunity to take the same approach that a church does when they are tired of their preacher.
We don’t fire the guy, we just tell all the other churches how awesome our preacher is.

Hall may have the most talent on the team but Ian is the dog that makes the team go.

receivers to throw to. I'm not sure the guys we have now would even start in the 90s. This does not excuse any of Cade's head scratching throws, but helps explain having fewer good moments over all. We will leave great moments alone for now.

I was almost pulling for NM to make a three late in the game because I felt bad for how terrible they were shooting and it wasn't going to change the outcome. They had LOTS of good looks and flat out missed.
I thought the same thing kind of happened against Baylor. They had several good looks and nothing fell for them. It didn't seem to me that they were missing because we had a hand in their face, we just got lucky.
Lucky is good.

Maybe you didn't see the specific defensive plays so much that punctuated those efforts, but our game plans disrupted the rhythm and took both NM and Baylor out of their comfort zones which helped cause their poor shooting nights.

we were switching the way we were playing the top screens throughout the game and Baylor was having trouble adjusting. Our bigs played the pick and roll great all night and guards were doing a great job recovering. I think our plan of keeping length/height in at the 3 and 4 and not trying to go small (which some teams do against them) worked really well. Clark especially cut off shots with his reach that a small defender couldn't have done.

The consensus has been that we will go as far as our guards can take us.

I'm glad to see Hunter saved his best for the tourney. Color me shocked and happy.
Since I've been hard on him in past posts, I'll highlight: 21 points on 50% shooting & 6:1 Assist:TO ratio against NM; 20 points on 50% shooting & 3:2 ratio against Baylor. That's awesome to see.
Anyone else wish we could play our next game tonight or tomorrow? The layoff worries me with our inconsistency, but I maybe playing a 1 seed will keep the team locked in.
