2015 - the season of "what could have been"
Dec 4, 2015, 10:00 AM
|
|
Can you imagine what this year could have been had our players and coaches really lived up to their potential? We saw it for a while against ND before their comeback, and then we saw it again against Miami. But it's hard to stomach looking back and wondering where this team would be right now if we hadn't given up a TD on defense all year. Or if we had kept the foot on the gas on offense all year, and averaged 50 points a game. I know it's hard to play the "what if" game, but I'd bet money that coaches sitting in their offices right now wondering about the "what ifs" of this season.
Sure, we're going to beat UNC tomorrow, and we'll go on to win the playoffs, but what would this season have looked like if we had reached our full potential?
Oh well, wait til next year I guess.

We would be in the same position we are now. Number one in the country and completely in the drivers seat with control of our own destiny.
The only potential difference would be that if we lost this weekend, maybe we make it in as a 3 seed. But regardless, there's still a chance we make it in even with a loss.
So I guess our total defense and offense rankings would be a bit higher, and maybe you'd feel more confident heading into the game tomorrow?

beat the ever-loving $#!t out of the tarholes tomorrow. It's all the whiny little ###### on this board that need more confidence, they all seem scared of the baby blue and argyle wine and cheese yuppie cheaters. I still remember what DW4 did against them in his first ever college start, and I expect it to be about the same this time around.

The coaching staff? I think they are the jauns that have to set the bar for enthusiasm.
Just lacking the right motivation and the bill starts at Dabo. BYOG just not enough.

Name me one team that has never given up a td on defense, and I'll show you a fictionalized movie,or tv show. Heck, even the undefeated Miami Dolphins of 1972 gave up defensive td's.And so did the Patriots that went 18-1. It ain't going to happen. Get real man.

"What could have been " is a statement applied to situations where something was lost or an opportunity was missed. You're implying that Clemson missed an opportunity, and we haven't. At 12-0 it's more like "what is" for us and less like "what isn't" , as you would suggest.
