It's 40%.

Total of last 3 years: 7695 of 19217 (40%)
Hmmm....

I would like to see what number simply drop out of school. Also, how many of those 60% were on scholarship.
Sad.

All kids believe they will be in the 40% group, most are not.
From a school's standpoint, take a chance on a high school "lottery ticket" or offer someone who already flopped? Usually, it's the lottery ticket.

Stat is a little bit misleading

Most of those players aren't players like DJ or Pace. The majority haven't seen the field and hope that some team might pick them up because they fill a hole.

They get frustrated because they aren't starting. They all believe they could start somewhere else. Most Clemson players DO find a home, as we recruit good players generally, and players with good character.

What’s the % of High school football players that make
Dec 5, 2022, 2:09 PM

It to be a d1 scholarship athlete?
100% of the guys that transfer weren’t getting it done at their school. 40% of them can get a second chance now. Not bad.

education.... if they were all on scholarship. Don't know why they would list walk ons since they probably would have to walk on in their next school anyway.

They can finish their degree at the next school.
My prestigious degree never got me jack squat. I’ve had to earn it.

Not true. Look at all the Oklahoma guys that left with Riley and the open recruiting if guys like the receiver from Pitt. Probably 5% we’re getting it done and still wanted to go somewhere else.

He is leaving here with his degree. In my eyes, he will always be a tiger after you get that degree.
Lord knows he has done more for Clemson than 99% of the fans on here.

What I want to know is what percentage of scholarships are now going to high school kids versus what it was before the portal morphed into free agency?

Seems like there are some quality players in the portal. I know Clemson can't use most of them, since we can land 4 stars rather easily, but Brennan Armstrong, Devin Leary, Kobe Pace, Jurkovic and some others who made a splash today with their name recognition? You'd think we could fill a need or two...

Any player from a top power 5 school will most likely find a spot somewhere.
Has any Clemson transfer not found a home and mostly in power 5?
"Couldn't start at Clemson" isn't enough to scare most schools away.
and most of them probably have a destination locked up before they put their name in the portal.

Fully agree that a lot of kids waste a chance to get a degree. I used to think this was sad, but then realized this is 100% self-inflicted.
But it would be good to see the caliber of player or star rating for the 60% and the 40%.
My guess is the good players find a home.
DJ, Pace, Collins and Williams will all find a home.
Allen and Fred Davis? I have no idea.
