Spring Practice Quick Hitters

CLEMSON – Dabo Swinney met with the local media Wednesday afternoon to preview the start of spring practice.

We’ll have much more on his press conference later, but below are some quick hitters.

On the quarterbacks

*Dabo says he has four talented QBs and says Kelly Bryant is a proven guy who has led his team to a playoff.

*Hunter Johnson really came on at end of last season. Gifted, talented and focused

*Chase Brice is a gunslinger. A winner. Incredible job on scout team. Tough and savvy. Big time winner

*Trevor Lawrence has unbelievable arm talent and size. He has also been a winner.

"We are going to choose from the best of the best." It's Kelly's job but he has to prove it every day,” Swinney said."

Injuries

*Tight end Garrett Williams is back at full strength

*Defensive lineman Richard Yeargin and Dexter Lawrence will be held out of contact drills during the spring, wearing green jersey for other drills. They are holding Lawrence out of drills to heal his ankle and foot and to avoid any setbacks.

Dabo said Dexter Lawrence never really healed last season and is now the best he's been since his freshman year and they don't want a setback

*Kicker Greg Huegel will not compete in spring practice (knee), as well as tight end Cole Renfrow (knee) and defensive end James Edwards.

*Early-enrollee tight end Braden Galloway (foot) will miss the first half of spring practice after surgery to put a screw in his foot and they will reevaluate after spring break.

*DE Logan Rudolph has been cleared to practice

Other notes

*Defensive lineman Christian Wilkins is working as a substitute teacher this semester.
