Former Clemson WR Martavis Bryant cut by Cowboys

Former Clemson wide receiver Martavis Bryant's path back to the NFL field took a hit this week.

Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, but NFL Network's Tom Pelissero says other teams are interested, and he is expected to get "a look."

Bryant joined the Cowboys midseason last year after his indefinite suspension from 2018 (substance abuse policy violations) was lifted. He stayed on the practice squad, was released in January, and re-signed later that month.

Bryant was a top target in his time with the Steelers from 2014-17, where the former fourth-round NFL draft pick averaged 15.2 yards per catch with 17 touchdowns in the regular season. He also added three touchdowns and 322 yards in four playoff games in Pittsburgh. Bryant also played a season with the Oakland Raiders in 2018.

During his time away from the NFL, Bryant was signed to the rosters of the Toronto Argonauts, Massachusetts Pirates, Edmonton Elks, FCF Beasts and Vegas Vipers.

The Upstate native totaled 61 catches for 1,354 yards with 13 touchdowns in a Clemson uniform.
