South Carolina Highway 105 is a 33.22 mile state highway that runs from the south end at SC 49 between Union and Lockhart near Robat to the north end at I-85 in Gaffney. Monty Lane Allen is from Lockhart.
 
The south end of SC 105 at SC 49 between Union and Lockhart is next to John D. Long Lake where two young boys, Michael and Alex Smith, sadly lost their lives nearly 30 years ago in late October of 1994 under tragic circumstances initiated by their mother and made worse by the story she fabricated and the pleas on national television. A memorial is at the lake where the boat ramp was and has since been removed. The boys would be in their 30s now. The area is also just above the Enoree Ranger District of the Sumter National Forest, the largest of the 3 districts with 170,000 acres of the 370,00 total for all 3 districts. The Enoree District has the Enoree, Tyger, and Broad Rivers for recreational opportunities of camping, hiking, viewing, photoing, boating, fishing, hunting, and biking with an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) trail.

Milliken used to have a plant in Lockhart. I remember they had their own power plant, and there was a moat around the plant filled with ugly ducks.

A linebacker for Hatfield was from Lockhart. He did play much and left the team after a couple of year to concentrate on his degree and is an attorney now. There were 18 kids in his graduating class

Like many others, I’ll never forget the tragedy in 1994. That was my 1st year of college & the Susan Smith coverage was everywhere!
My roommate & I knew that there was something fishy with her story from the start.

At Clemson:
LB James Skalski (2016-2021) played a lot of games for Clemson. In his six (yes - six) seasons, he tied a record for games played at 69. In those 69 games, he played with a lot of tenacity - and made a lot of tackles!
Skalski’s bio on ClemsonTigers.com describes his illustrious Clemson career as follows:
Two-year team captain who completed his decorated six-year career spanning 2016-21 credited with 310 career tackles (20.5 tackles for loss), 10.0 sacks, 12 pass breakups, two fumble recoveries (including one he returned 17 yards for a touchdown) and a forced fumble in 1,920 snaps over 69 games (38 starts) … his 69 career games played tied for the school and modern FBS record … is the only player ever to play in (and win) five ACC Championship Games … at the conclusion of his career, was one of only 20 players in school history to earn at least three All-ACC Academic Team selections.

According to that same website, of his 310 tackles, Skalski’s high was in 2019 when he recorded 105 tackles in 15 games. He did record 100 tackles in 2021, however in only 13 games.
Football Scoop claimed that it felt as if James Skalski played at Clemson for nine seasons. As the website explains:
Skalski stood out more than your typical linebacker: the tattoos wrapping around his giant left arm, the throwback neck roll, and the edge that he played with, of a guy that played every snap with the goal of getting an opposing player to punch him. It was as if he was trying to become his generation's Brian Bosworth. Now add in that he always seemed to be around the ball for a team that played in a ton of important games and it'll start to make sense.

I take that as an intended compliment for Skalski!
While at Clemson, Skalski also attempted one extra point (2019 at NC St). According to Tigernet:
“On a night when offensive lineman John Simpson scored a touchdown, Skalski was allowed the chance to kick the extra point after the Tigers’ last touchdown of the night. Skalski rushed onto the field to make the kick, and the ball sailed wide left of the uprights.
“I didn’t get to warm up. So that is my excuse. We had planned it last week…we were about to score with 30 seconds left and B.T. Potter comes over to me and he says, ‘Do you want it?”
“I didn’t even think about it. So, I sprinted over to the offensive huddles and as soon as they broke, I said ‘Coach Swinney, let me get the PAT.’ And he said, ‘You got it.’ … I will kick one for sure next time. If there is a next time. I might have ruined my chance.”

Unfortunately, Skalski did not get a “next time” to make an extra point. But he still attempted one more extra point than the vast majority of linebackers!
After Clemson:
In 2022, Skalski signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts. He was released before the regular season began.
In January 2023 Skalski was hired as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma. It allowed Skalski to reunite with his former Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables (now HC at OU). Amazing to think that Skalski played in half the Clemson games that Venables coached. According to Football Scoop:
“Venables coached 138 Clemson games; Skalski played in 69 and was on the roster for 84.”
